Many people has lost their live over hate crimes. Racial based crimes are more specific and are considered to be crimes performed towards an individual or group based upon their particular race. Although some may say we are living in a post -racial society hate crimes still exist. Trayvon Martin was a victim to hate crimes. he was attacked by a white man because he was black and wearing a hoodie so right off the back judge and targeted. During the last hour of Trayvon Martin's life, he had just bought some candy and a can of tea from a local store and was passing through the neighborhood where Zimmerman lived, apparently looking at residences as he passed them. Possibly due to the weather, Martin had raised the hood of his pullover, covering his head and partially obscuring his face. While similar articles of clothing have been in use since the Middle Ages, hooded pullovers (hoodies) are now perceived as popular among members of youth gangs.(American action Report).

Heavy burdens of racism in the country have fallen upon Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, American Jews, Italian Americans, Arab Americans, and some other immigrant groups and their descendants.((1888PressRelease) July 11, 2010).
